The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lublin (Poland) hosted on March 15 the I International ConferenceMultiplier Event” within the framework of the project “4D  in the Digitalisation of Learning in Practice Placement” to present the first findings of the report on the key elements and recommendations on how to introduce mobile technology in clinical practice environments.

The 4D project aims to create an individualized and personalized mobile application (app) for the management of curricular practices that will help students, tutors, supervisors, and teachers of each organization that participates in this learning context. This technological application aims to improve the experience in learning based on health practice settings. This project is coordinated by the researchers Dr. Carlos Martínez, Dra. Esther Cabrera and Professor Carles García from TecnoCampus and has the participation of the Lublin University of Medicine (Poland), the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (Spain), the Graz University of Technology (Austria), the University of Twente (The Netherlands), Kubify BV Learning Toolbox (The Netherlands) and the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany).

The international conference which attended more than 100 people from different European countries, served to highlight the advantages and recommendations of incorporating digital tools that allow creating a bridge between health institutions and the academic environment. It was also the presentation forum for the first results of the project, the report “Key factors in the digitization of clinical practice environments in higher education”. This report will be published soon on the project website, and includes different recommendations obtained from the results of the study. Summarized as follows:

  1. Economic issues, technical characteristics, selection of devices, involvement of students and teachers and guidelines and policies are the 5 key aspects when designing an innovation for digitization in practices.
  2. In order for technology to be implemented correctly, in parallel with technological adoption, the following strategies must be adopted: training, teamwork, culture, staff involvement and patient empowerment.
  3. After implementation, once innovation has been introduced into the practice environment and in order to guarantee the success of mobile learning, aspects such as maintenance, technological support, security, and Internet access must be taken into account.

After this event, on March 16 and 17, the IV Transnational Project Meeting took place in the same premises.
