The Department of Health and the Research Group on Chronic Care and Health Innovation (GRACIS) at the TecnoCampus University Center in Mataró held the closing event for the 4D project on the 23rd of October 2024. This project was dedicated to the adoption of mobile technology in the practice placement and brought together nursing professionals from Catalonia and Andorra. Â
The Department of Health in collaboration with the Chronic Care and Health Innovation Research Group (GRACIS) at the TecnoCampus University Center in Mataró, hosted the closing ceremony for the 4D Project on the 23rd of October focused on integrating mobile technology into nursing practices, gathered healthcare professionals from Catalonia and Andorra. fostering connections and advancements in the field.
The 4D project coordinated by TecnoCampus co-funded under the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, professors and researchers, Dr. Esther Cabrera and Dr. Carlos Martinez, presents digital solutions for clinical learning for health professionals. This 2nd multiplier event is the closure of a research and co-creation process aimed to publicize the results of the 4D project to all local and regional universities and research community, as well as clinical tutors and professionals in the field of health.
This event was attended by the director of the Department of Health, who welcomed the participants on behalf of the TecnoCampus. In addition, it allowed the presentation of the coordination team which had the opportunity to explain the project in detail. The inauguration of the conference was developed by the keynote speaker, Joan Guanyabens, Director of the TIC Health and Social Foundation of Catalonia, who spoke about innovation in the health system and digital transformation in Catalonia, pointing out the importance of artificial intelligence in the health sector.
The presentations of the project outcomes were organized in different blocks from consortium members. Highlights included the “Presentation of the Toolkit: Successful Adoption of Mobile Technology in Practice Environments” by Dr Gilbert Peffer, co-founder of Kubify. The session “Demonstration of Mobile Applications for Each Practice Setting” featured interventions by the medical faculty representatives, including Dr Justyna Krysa from the University of Lublin in Poland, Dr Cynthia Szalai from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany, and Dr Ariadna Huertas from the Research Institute Germans Trias i Pujol. The final presentation, “Evaluation and Best Practices for Introducing Technology in Clinical Practice,” was delivered by Dr Cynthia Szalai, showcased preliminary findings from the pilot study conducted by the three participating universities.
The event welcomed over 70 attendees, including the President of the Official College of Nursing of Barcelona, Mr. Borja Manzanares, and Dr Carme Planas, Director of Nursing Care for the Health System of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Additionally, technology companies specializing in digital health across the region participated.
The following days, 24th and 25th of October, the Research Institute of Germans Trias i Pujol in Badalona was responsible for organising the 7th and final transnational project meeting. In this work session, relevant issues were taken into account, such as the exploitation and sustainability of the project, the impact, the best practices, publications and subsequent dissemination and promotion of future actions.
